    Wow, what an improvement
I’ve had a Hoover model from yesteryear which is still running strong, but it’s seen better days. When this model went on sale, I thought I’d give it a try. I don’t need a ton of bells and whistles. I just need a solid machine to clean my floors. It wasn’t until this arrived and I cleaned a couple of rooms that I realized what a HUGE improvement in technology this was. From picking up excess water to the effective use of the water it does dispense. When I emptied out the dirty water tank, it was saturated with the dirt it picked up off the floor and I vacuum daily! I had just cleaned the floors the prior day with my old unit. Wow. One of the things I most appreciated is the self cleaning mode of the brush. Huge win! You can replace them like mop heads as well. Perfect! There is literally nothing I don’t like about the Crosswave.I do want to mention a couple things regarding some complaints I’ve read about this unit. Yes, you have to clean it after every use. How is that unreasonable? That’s just plain lazy if it’s upsetting to anyone. You empty the dirty tank. You rinse off all the hair, grime and dirt left clinging to parts and if the filter is doing its job, it’s going to get dirty and you’ll want to replace it eventually. This machine has a self-cleaning button that literally cleans the brush head for you after your cleaning session is complete. How amazing and convenient! You can’t just walk away from it like a robotic, self emptying robot. I’ve tried those and they are not even close to being effective. The technology has a very long way to go to meet the cleaning quality of this Bissell. It’s also not meant for carpets, so please don’t have unrealistic expectations. Don’t expect it to perform like a carpet cleaner or a dedicated vacuum cleaner. It’s meant to do one thing and it does it really well. It cleans hard floors squeaky clean.I have a robotic vacuum that runs on a daily schedule. It gets rid of the majority of dog hair, dust and dirt that gets trailed in from going in and out of the house. By adding this once a week to the routine, my floors are clean enough to eat off of. If you’re not keeping your floors fairly clean throughout the week, don’t expect this unit to become an industrial cleaner. That’s not what it’s meant for. I especially love how easy it is to maneuver as well as how little water it uses for being as effective as it is. I’ve just recently edited this review since my purchase several weeks ago and I’m still sticking to the 5 stars. It’s my new favorite appliance in the house.

Best steam mop on the market!
This is the 2nd time buying this item. I use it to clean our Resort, so it gets a lot of use. It’s was super easy to assemble. East to fill and clean out. Light weight and easy to carry. What i love is the vacuum function. It pushes out enough liquid to nicely wash the floor but then sucks it back up along with any dirt to leave a smooth clean finish. It is FANTASTIC at sucking up pet hair that is left floating behind! Versatile & use it every time we clean!

Where has this been all my life?
This review is for the cheapest corded model. I snagged it on Prime day and have zero regrets. Although I’ve only had it a week, I feel that it’s enough use to review it. The only question left is the longevity, and I’ll update that at a later time. This vac mop has been around for years, and has thousands of reviews, so there’s really no point in reviewing it, but there are things I’d like to highlight.I bought this because I mistakenly thought I could use it as a vacuum and mop. Not vacuum bare floors while mopping, but actually dry vacuum carpet. Not so lol. It’s meant to suck up water while mopping. That said, I’m here to inform everyone that you can indeed use this as a daily vacuum and a daily mop with a little adaptation.Bissell says to dismantle and clean it after every use. This is true. Failure to do so will result in the unit getting smelly. But if doing it this way, you can’t whip it out whenever you need to clean up a mess. Even using it once daily will result in downtime of a couple days if the filter is cleaned. How to get around this annoyance? You need to buy extra brushes and filters. Bissell doesn’t mention this. Buy lots and lots of filters. That way when one gets damp or needs cleaning, you can quickly swap it for a dry one. This is necessary because water can easily get past the filter and into the motor, especially if there’s any cleaner in the water tank.Which brings me to my next point. Do not put anything except water and/or Bissell brand cleaner in the tank. If you must use another cleaner, dilute it to a weak strength and spray it directly on the floor. Suds will bubble up into the motor if you’re not careful. As for how it functions, it’s amazing. It pulls up more dirt than my O’Cedar spin mop. It’s less tedious than the spin mop too. Dry vacuuming will pick up dust and pet hair off the surface of an area rug or low pile carpet. It will also refresh it when using the mop function. It doesn’t replace a traditional mop or vacuum, but it’s perfect for what it’s advertised to do – daily vacuuming and mopping. It’s great for maintenance between deep cleaning. As for maintaining it, pour water in the tray with a little squirt of diluted Lysol or similar. The brush will come out mostly clean and dry. Remove the filter from the waste cup cover and rinse the cup and lid. If the filters and brushes are dirty or smelly, toss them in a washer with some rags or old clothes (to cushion them during the spin cycle) then air dry. They don’t need to be scrubbed or soaked in anything. That’s doing too much lol.Like I said, I’ll update this later to include longevity, but so far this method works for me. It still smells brand new, and I’d like it to stay that way for a long time. I highly recommend this to anyone who’s sick of spin mops and Swiffer.

I own both the Crosswave and the Hoover Floormate Deluxe. The Floormate Deluxe is better at:TEXTURED TILE / GROUT – Slightly better at getting off caked on dry stains. The Crosswave doesn’t have the same pressure. If you have textured tile you will appreciate the extra stain cleaning power of the Floormate. The tile brush allows more pressure to be applied to the recesses of the tile and the lower grout lines. If you plan to use either floor cleaner for just textured tile the Floormate Deluxe is the cleaner to get. (or a rotary mop) The Crosswave is better at:FLAT SURFACES – Subway tile, hardwood floor, vinyl plank and laminate.LARGE DEBRIS – Pet hair, dog food, cheerios, animal crackers. – These get picked up on the first pass with the Crosswave. The hoover uses a squeegee to help lift the water off the floor so the pieces of food/dirt get pushed forward unless you tilt one side of the machine up. This gets real old after a while. Especially when you have 3000 ft^2 to clean.CLEANING (post floor cleaning) – Pet hair is harder to get out of the Floormate. I find myself trying to “fish” the dog hair out of the Floormate with my pinkies. If you don’t have time to completely clean the Floormate and the pet hair dries on the inside of the cleaning head… you are in for a treat. By comparison the Crosswave is a pleasure to clean. Sure you have to run it in a tray and pull out the roller head… but you have to do it with the Floormate as well if you want the product to last more than a year. Besides… the entire process takes maybe 30 seconds. There is Crosswave lazy… then there is unemployed bum lazy.SPEED – I can clean at least twice as fast with the Crosswave. It applies moisture more evenly to the floor surface and it leaves the floor dryer than the Floormate. The Floormate requires at least 2-3 passes of the same area. The first pass lays down the water and the brushes distribute the water. The second pass is the real cleaning pass that does the majority of the cleaning. The 3rd pass is solely to clean up the residual water from the 2nd pass. Even after you stop applying water to the floor it still takes a while for the water to stop dripping from the head of the cleaner. On the other hand, the Crosswave lets you perform a quick clean of the area. Foot marks on dark laminate or a quick touch up by the front door before company arrives seems less like a chore. When I just owned the Floormate I found myself mopping on weekends when we had were in a hurry to clean. We would use the Floormate for the “entire house” cleaning days. You can’t perform a “quick clean” with eh Floormate. I would say you are looking at 30 minutes per 500 ft^2 with the Floormate. Depending on how dirty your floors are you are looking at 10-30 minutes for the same area with the Crosswave.NO VACUUMING REQUIRED – We have two young children and a 200+ pound English Mastiff who sheds continuously. I can clean the floors with the Crosswave without having to sweep/vacuum first. This is a HUGE time saver. I would have toBoth machines will remove caked on mustard and dried dog drool in a matter of seconds. If a stain doesn’t lift after a few passes, soak the area with the machine and keep going. Wait for the solution to soak for a minute or two then come back to the spot. If it still doesn’t come off the floor take a scrub brush to it. For a machine to remove anything more in the first pass would require such abrasion that the floor surface would be compromised over time. Both units are going to do a better job than a mop pushes the dirt into the recesses, these devices scrub and vacuum. My personal opinion is the Crosswave, despite its price , is a better overall floor cleaner. The hardwood floors look shinier when clean and they feel cleaner on your feet. The Crosswave ends up saving you a lot of time. It’s quite fast once you get the hang of it and it doesn’t require any floor prep before you use it (sweep/vacuum).If budget isn’t a concern go with the Crosswave, otherwise the Floormate is a damn good cleaner for the money.

I LOVE this. We have 3 short hair dogs, which means lots of fur everywhere and lots of mess. This has my floor sparkling clean. I even did the entry way to my bedroom where the carpet is dirty due to traffic and the dogs. It is much cleaner now. It does not leave the carpet overly wet. I’m not sure why one person said it doesn’t pick up a cheerio, because mine picked up a piece of hard dog food without a struggle.Pros: Cleans floors very well.Sleek machine, nice colours and overall appearance. Can buy extra attachments and brushesVery easily can remove tank for fill up, andTo empty the dirty water.Easy to remove brush for cleaningIt most certainly does pick up slightly heavy objects, such as a piece of dog food.Cons: Kind of loudDoes do edges well.No removable attachment for spot cleaning or edge cleaning.Does not come with more brushes or cleaning solution.I got mine for a great deal in the warehouse store. It was returned by someone, I think, but had no damage at all. It was just in a brown box. I am not complaining about that. Just stating so that others will remember to check the warehouse store on here, to also get a good deal.
